The Kansas Legislature returned to Topeka for the Special Legislative Session yesterday morning, Wednesday, June 3. Governor Kelly took this extraordinary step after she vetoed legislation placing oversight of her executive power and a relief package to address COVID-19.
While a Special Session is usually designed to address a specific topic or piece of legislation, anything can happen. The Governor has been making a concerted effort to pass Medicaid Expansion. Pro-lifers are opposed to this until the Value Them Both Amendment to the Kansas Constitution is approved by the legislature. Recent court rulings place our state’s ban on taxpayer-funded abortions in grave danger. Expansion would make the problem worse if Value Them Both is not approved.
Please contact your state representatives and state senator and urge them to stop Medicaid Expansion until the Value Them Both Amendment to the Kansas Constitution is approved by the legislature.
