Thousands March for Life in Louisiana

By Louisiana Right to Life

Five Louisiana Life March events, as well as a number of local life marches, drew thousands of pro-life citizens during January and the first weekend of February.

Rain forced partial cancellation of the Life March Southwest in Lake Charles, but a relocated program of testimony and music went on as planned and began the state’s Life March season. The weather was good for the other marches, and in all, about 12,000 Louisiana residents participated in march events in Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, West Monroe-Monroe, and Alexandria-Pineville.

Shreveport’s marching route was changed this year due to bridge construction. Also new in Northwest Louisiana this year were food trucks and a family fun hour aimed at getting more families locked in to the pro-life cause.

There were powerful testimonies at each march as well, including Alan and Lisa Robertson of the Duck Dynasty family in Monroe, evangelist Dustin Bertrand in Central Louisiana and East Baton Rouge Parish Metropolitan Council Member Tara Wicker and Solicitor General Liz Murrill of the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office in Baton Rouge.

Next year’s Life March dates have been tentatively set as follows:

  • Friday, Jan. 22, 2021 – Louisiana Life March Southwest, Lake Charles
  • Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021 – Louisiana Life March Southeast, Baton Rouge
  • Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021 – Louisiana Life March Northwest, Shreveport-Bossier
  • Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021 – Louisiana Life March Northeast, West Monroe-Monroe
  • Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 – Louisiana Life March Cenla, Pineville-Alexandria
