The federal government under Justin Trudeau has launched a TWO WEEK “public consultation” on its proposal to drastically expand euthanasia practices in Canada.
Following Quebec’s lead, the Federal Liberals want to expand euthanasia to those who cannot give consent through allowing the use of ‘advanced directives’. They are also considering euthanasia for those who are not terminally ill, such as those with dementia or other psychological issues.
The proposed expansion would not only mean many more victims of this sterilized form of medical murder, but it would open up the risk of premature death to additional groups of vulnerable people – the elderly, the disabled, the depressed, and sick children.
The current practice of “Medical Aid in Dying” is somewhat regulated by a set of arbitrary criteria. Eligibility criteria include patients who are:
- at least 18 years old and mentally competent;
- have a serious illness, disease, or disability;
- be in an advanced state of decline that “cannot be reversed”, where death is “reasonably foreseeable”
- be experiencing “unbearable physical or mental suffering”;
- their request to be euthanized must be made voluntarily and ten days must lapse between the request and the euthanasia death;
Please take ten minutes out of your day to answer the two sets of questions that make up this “public consultation”. While it may not reverse the destructive path that the government is on, it will send a strong message to our leaders that there are many thousands, if not millions of Canadians who do not support their terrible policies that make medicalized death a reality in Canada!
Interestingly, in Massachusetts a Superior Court decision was rendered on Friday, January 10, 2020, stating that there is no right to assisted suicide. Their reasoning is clear and can be a help to those wishing to give our leaders some balanced “food for thought”. You can find a good synopsis of their decision HERE.
The EPC has a guide to filling out the form that is very helpful HERE.
