Having shot themselves in the foot, pro-abortion Democrats now take aim at their own head

So, in the face of growing public opposition to impeaching pro-life President Trump, pro-abortion House Democrats did so anyway. When you see (or read about) a number of Washington Post reporters celebrating “Merry Impeachmus,” it makes a kind of sense, from their perspective, to try to send him packing, even if the odds of the Senate convicting President Trump are remote. After all, the “best people” all know it must be done.

But threatening to hold off sending the articles of impeachment over to the Senate, ostensibly to gain “leverage,” strikes me as one of the truly colossally stupid mistakes of the past decade.

If in the face of years of onslaught and weeks of House hearings bashing President Trump his approval numbers nonetheless go up and support for impeachment goes down, what ought that tell Democrats?

But the takeaway they have come up with is the public is stupid and easily led. Thus it is no surprise that a former Democrat Senator said all they need is better “messaging” and oodles of money.

Does Pelosi not understand that a significant percentage of the public already thinks this is all about the Democrats hatred of Trump and trying to reverse the outcome of the 2016 election? That this is all politics? That vulnerable Democrats—those in districts President Trump won in 2016—are being placed in an untenable position?

Bur rather than minimize the bleeding, Pelosi plays games. Earth to Pelosi. That only confirms what was suspected by half the public and draws more fence-straddlers over to the side of President Trump. We’ll see how long this gamesmanship goes on. My guess is about as long as it takes some private polls to tell them they are walking off a cliff.
