What a surprise. Media blackout of House hearing on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

On Tuesday, NRL News Today readers had the opportunity to read a number of stories about yesterday’s House hearing on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Today we’ll offer additional insights into a hearing that was attended by many pro-life House Republicans and no pro-abortion House Democrats. The latter are not the least interested in the fate of abortion survivors, which, while unsurprising, is still a huge disappointment.

Democrats in the House have refused to even consider the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. As of August, there are 201 signatures on a discharge petition designed to bring the legislation to the floor of the house for a vote. Seventeen more signatures are needed.

I have not done an exhaustive search but to date I have found no coverage outside pro-life circles. Not surprising but, again, disappointing. After all, most media outlets are extensions of the Abortion Industry, wholly uninterested in bringing to light that babies born alive are being medically neglected—infanticide by anything-but benign neglect.

But consider what has been written in the past when the media can rouse itself enough to sit down with their laptops. Consider this lead sentence from March, written by POLITICO’s Alice Miranda Ollstein

Republicans’ amped-up focus on so-called late term abortions has brought new energy to the issue for their conservative base — forcing Democrats to respond to rhetoric about infanticide.

You don’t have to even read the story, which ran under the very telling headline, “Republicans pound abortion ‘infanticide’ message,” to know what Ollstein’s thesis is.

Worrying about, praying over unborn children who survive abortions is just “inflammatory,” just another part of the GOP’s 2020 strategy to win the presidency and control of Congress by “pounding” on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and late-term abortions.

Nothing in the story about reverting to pre-civilized standards when nations just abandoned unwanted newborns to be eaten by dogs. (Democrats would response that is “inflammatory.”)

Nothing about how ghastly it is that the now-aborted woman and her child’s attempted slayer can unilaterally decide whether this wholly separate (and separated) human being is to be treated as would any other baby of similar gestational age.

Switch parties. If it were Democrats, would POLITICO or the Washington Post or the New York Times, talk about the “amped-up focus” of Democrats on, say, impeaching the President, as POLITICO characterized the Republicans’ “amped-up focus on so-called late term abortions”? Of course not!

There would be nothing about “energizing” the Democrats’ base, although that is the entire sum and substance. We would be told, rather, that Democrats are soberly, responsibly fulfilling their constitutional duty. More from Ollstein

“This is red meat to their base,” Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) said of Republicans pushing the bill. “They just continue to put out these kinds of factually wrong anti-choice amendments and bills. So we have to continue to fight back.”

Of course, there is absolutely nothing “factually wrong “about the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The inaccuracies and misdirection and out-and-out lies comes entirely from opposition Democrats who told us the bill is about abortion (it’s not—it’s about the fate of babies outside the womb) and that it could demand treatment for the child just this side of torture (which is dishonest even by the standards of Congressional Democrats).

But, according to Ollstein, Democrats are holding fast. We talk about grotesque medical neglect of newborns, they respond how the Trump Administration dare require that Title X recipients not promote or perform abortions and not co-house abortion and family planning services.

The tiny fact that Title X was clearly designed as preventative family planning before the administrations of pro-abortion Presidents perverted its true mission; and that the Supreme Court has already upheld similar regulations 28 years ago is conveniently ignored.

These people truly are shameless.

We will see in 2020 whether the American people hold them accountable.

I am firmly convinced they will.
