Hillary Clinton’s mad rush to defend Planned Parenthood

By Dave Andrusko

If you’ve followed the fine work of Lianne Laurence that we have reposted, you know that investigative reporter David Daleiden’s defense of his undercover work at a preliminary hearing has shed new light on the unholy triad of Planned Parenthood, the National Abortion Federation, and “tissue procurement companies” that acquired body parts of aborted babies and then sell to their respective customers.

A couple of times a week, I repost stories relevant to current events that we wrote on that day in years past. In light of Mr. Daleiden’s remarkable videos, we wrote about his all-hands-on-deck defense of Planned Parenthood on September 18, 2015.

It was only one part of a fairly lengthy interview on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.” But pro-abortion Hillary Clinton’s answers on Planned Parenthood, particularly about the undercover videos in which investigators from the Center for Medical Progress talked with high ranking Planned Parenthood officials, were even more evasive than her other responses on other subjects.

According to CNN’s own story about the interview, “Hillary Clinton rushed to Planned Parenthood’s defense Thursday…” A fair characterization.

Wolf Blitzer, to his credit, asked the former Secretary of State straightforwardly: “First of all have you seen those very, very controversial videos?”

In a classic Clinton filibuster, 243 words later, Mrs. Clinton had not answered the question.

Instead she meandered off into the issue of whether millions of dollars in federal funds should continue to flow into the coffers of the largest abortion provider in the United States; trumpeted non-abortion services PPFA provided; and accused Republicans in general, the presidential candidates who had debated the night before in particular (there’s an original charge) of wishing they “could turn the clock back.”

Blitzer went on to ask, “Are you confident that Planned Parenthood, Madame Secretary, or any of its affiliated groups if you will haven’t violated any federal laws?”

To which Clinton responded:

Well, Wolf, let me tell you what I know. And that is there is a willingness on the part of Planned Parenthood to answer questions. They have been doing so. Some people may not want to hear the answers, but they have certainly put those answers out there into the public arena.

But the “answers” consisted of carefully hedged responses wrapped in a blanket of denunciations about the videos being “heavily edited.” Then, as did [then-] PPFA president Cecile Richards in a You Tube video, Planned Parenthood attempted to change the subject to the use of the baby’s tissues and intact organs for “lifesaving research, developing treatments for diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.” (Never mind that no treatments have been developed out of the remains of these hapless babies.)

There’s more which is more dated, but for me, the interesting relevant connection to September 2019 is something I will write about later today or Thursday. The same New York Times which will publish the most scurrilous, undocumented accusations against people such as Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has also been in the forefront of publishing (dare I say honest) reporting on the dark, dark side of Planned Parenthood.
