If you think about it, should you not know any better than to buy into this reporter’s description of the dismemberment of a living unborn child, why would you support HB 1721, the “Oklahoma Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act”?
None of the reality of ripping tiny arms and legs off using tools better suited for a slaughter house. Instead, Barbara Hoberock of the Tulsa World, tell us that HB 1721
prohibits an abortion method in which suction is used to remove the contents of the uterus, followed by the use of forceps and then more suction until the uterus is emptied.
It’s perfectly antiseptic. The only thing missing is “products of conception.”
Anyway, Hoberock tells us that
The Tulsa Women’s Reproductive Clinic is asking Oklahoma County District Judge Cindy Truong to keep an injunction against House Bill 1721 in place while it appeals her decision to let the law stand to the Oklahoma Supreme Court.
NRL News Today reported about Judge Trong’s July 12th decision. Granted, it took four years and three months, but it was a great victory when the Oklahoma County District upheld the state’s Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act.
Sentiment in the state legislature was overwhelmingly in favor. In 2015, HB 1721 passed the state House of Representatives, 84-2 and the state Senate 37-4 and was then signed into law by pro-life Gov. Gov. Mary Fallin.
When Judge Trong upheld the law last month, state Attorney General Mike Hunter said, “Dismemberment abortions are barbaric, brutal and subject unborn children to more cruelty that we allow for death row inmates.” He added, “It is unconscionable to think that we would allow this practice to continue. Judge Truong is to be commended for declaring this legislation constitutional. Today is a major victory for basic human decency in Oklahoma.”
AG Hunter’s response to the Center for Reproductive Rights, which is representing the Tulsa Women’s Reproductive Clinic, is expected this week, according to Hoberock.
Ten other states also forbid this hideous dismemberment “technique.”
