Abortion Pill Reversal is saving lives

By Kerry Uhlenkott, Legislative Coordinator, Right to Life of Idaho

Dear Friends for Life:

Last year in April of 2018, a new medical study confirmed that the abortion pill reversal (APR) medical intervention is saving lives and giving hope to women who change their minds after taking mifepristone, the first drug in the two-drug chemical or medication abortion process.

Published in the peer-reviewed medical journal, Issues in Law and Medicine, this study demonstrates that the use of progesterone, the hormone essential to the maintenance of a normal, healthy pregnancy, is safe and may be an effective way to reverse chemical abortions.

“Women who change their minds after starting a medication abortion now have a second chance at choice,” George Delgado, one of the study’s authors, was quoted as saying. “Using progesterone to reverse the effects of mifepristone is effective and does not increase the risks of birth defects.”

In 2018, Right to Life of Idaho initiated the Idaho Abortion Pill Reversal Informed Consent bill, and with the help of many prolife legislators and the rest of the prolife movement the bill passed and is now law.

As required by this law, the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare now has abortion pill reversal information on its website, including a list of some of the APR providers for Idaho.

Further, all abortion providers are required to give any woman seeking an abortion these informed consent materials. See the following link to the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare website.

Currently nine (9) states have passed APR Informed Consent laws, and already at least 750 babies have been saved by the abortion pill reversal (APR) medical intervention. See this link.

Some women may not yet be aware of this information. So please help us spread the word.
