By Kansans For Life
Kansans for Life’s top priority legislation, Abortion Pill Reversal Notification, was passed by both the House and the Senate on Friday, April 5, and is on its way to the governor.
The legislation had originally passed the House as HB 2274 on March 26 by a vote of 85-39. However, with the end of session rapidly approaching, the bill was put into a conference committee report as SB 67, and adopted by both chambers on Friday.
The vote to adopt the conference committee report on SB 67 was 85-35 in the House and 26-11 in the Senate.
These are very strong majorities and show that the intent of the legislature is to empower women contemplating medication abortions with knowledge of their true options.
Abortion pill reversal is based on science, has been proven effective, and is safe for women and their unborn babies. There is no reason women who change their minds after beginning a medication abortion should be denied information about this lifesaving option.
