PPFA raked in over $1.6 billion in revenues, a substantial portion of which was derived from slaughtering 332,757 babies in 2017, an increase over 10,000 from the 321,592 it performed in 2016. This, it must now and always be noted, is at a time when the overall number of abortions is thankfully diminishing.
I had missed Planned Parenthood’s statement on January 22. As it happens I ran across it today at a pro-abortion site. The headline was most revealing: “On 46th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood Celebrates State Efforts to Expand Abortion Access.”
As you would expect, PPFA extols its pro-active proposals. “Planned Parenthood expects more than half the states to push positive policies that expand access to health care including safe, legal abortion. Furthermore, champions will join a broad push in all 50 states to protect access to reproductive health care — including fights in the courts, in the ballot boxes, and in state legislatures.”
Forewarned is forearmed. New York has already passed its “Reproductive Health Act,” which makes Roe v. Wade seem cautious and conservative by comparison.
It is most revealing not that pro-abortionists-running-for-President such as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo would trumpet abortion on demand throughout pregnancy, but that they are (a) giddy that non-abortionists can now kill unborn babies; and (b) it will much more difficult to prosecute domestic violence cases where an attack on a pregnant woman results in injury or death to her unborn child.
The post at Yubanet.com included a statement from PPFA’s new president, Dr. Leana Wen. (This is the same Dr. Wen who chastised a hugely sympathetic story for not sufficiently emphasizing PPFA’s fervent devotion to abortion.) Wen writes
Access to health care is a fundamental human right, and I can think of no better way to honor Roe v. Wade than fighting to make sure that all aspects of reproductive healthcare—including birth control, STI tests, cancer screenings, and safe, legal abortion—are accessible to women across the country.”
If abortion is a “fundamental human right,” then any and all limitations would be close to impossible to defend against an army of pro-abortion litigants.
Planned Parenthood’s new motto is “Care. No matter what.” Truth be told, “Abortion yesterday, today, and forever,” is Planned Parenthood’s real motto.
