Commemorating 50 Years of Defending Life
Editor’s note. 2018 is the 50th anniversary of the National Right to Life Committee. As part of NRLC’s annual Yearbook, which was distributed to attendees at the NRLC convention in Overland, Kansas, there were many tributes to the most effective single-issue pro-life organization in America. Over the next two weeks, we will be posting many of those tributes.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)
“Congratulations on 50 years of protecting the dignity of all human life. Because of your consistent advocacy, the rights of the unborn are at the forefront of our national discussion. As a U.S. Senator, safeguarding the right to life is one of my fundamental responsibilities, and I am proud of my 100% Pro-Life voting record.
“By enacting the federal ban on partial-birth abortions and overturning Obama-era rules forcing states to fund abortion clinics, Congress has taken important steps to defend the most vulnerable. Currently I am work with my colleagues and the Trump administration to block federal funds from abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. I will continue to protect and defend the unborn and the mother who carry them so we can bring about the day when all life is finally shown the respect it deserves.”
