We’ve reposted a great Newsbusters story written by P.J. Gladnick. He pokes gentle fun at Chris Cillizza, formerly of the Washington Post, now of CNN, whose loathing for President Trump is so all-consuming that facts mean nothing to him. (His displeasure with Republicans in general runs a close second.)
Gladnick was talking specifically about how the other day Cillizza scrambled to find a cloud to surround the silver lining (for Republicans) of their much improved prospects for the 2018 mid-term elections. Cillizza explained and explained and explained but it did not change the numbers.
Gladnick ended with a reminder that just two weeks before the 2016 election, Cillizza co-wrote a piece headlined, “Donald Trump’s chances of winning are approaching zero.”
Let’s be clear, even I—the eternal optimist—conceded on October 24 that then candidate Trump was behind. But I also laid out a plausible case why the presidential race was by no means over. Consider…
Hillary Clinton, pro-abortion to the core, was a terrible candidate. Her confidence in the inevitability of her victory (and her overweening sense of entitlement) led her not only to make egregious strategic mistakes but also to publicly declare her utter contempt for “half of Trump’s supporters” whom she said ought to be lumped into a “basket of deplorables.”
But Cillizza (and Aaron Blake) were so bent on discouraging Trump supporters that they reached the absurd conclusion that Texas (“leans Republican”) and Utah (a “toss up”) were in play.
Trump won by 9 points in Texas and 18 points in Utah.
This is the third of three posts this week which all have the same point. Never, ever, ever believe what the “Legacy Media” tells you about pro-life Republicans.
That old media—primarily the New York Time and the Washington Post, the three networks, and CNN—will say and write anything to defend abortion. Truth is always the first casualty.
