Scout’s Honor, I meant to write about this before June 7 but…I didn’t. So, for the last post of the week, let me just say a few words about “Let’s ruin Mike Pence’s birthday,” a typically tasteless fundraising eblast sent out by (you guessed it) IIyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America.
Of course, NARAL despises Vice President Pence for the very reasons we love and admire him. Here’s the first sentence:
On March 30, Mike Pence cast the tie-breaking vote to pass a bill that puts family planning access at risk for 4 million low income women across the country.
Really? What is NARAL even talking about?
You’ll recall that his way out the door, President Obama gave a parting gift to his buddies at Planned Parenthood. H.J. Res. 43, sponsored in the House by Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) used the Congressional Review Act to nullify that 11th hour Obama Administration rule designed to prevent states from redirecting Title X funds away from unsuitable organizations such as Planned Parenthood.
When it got the Senate, the Abortion Lobby employed all its political muscle, resulting in a tie vote. Vice President Pence broke the 50-50 tie. Why should the House and Senate pass H.J. Res. 43 and pro-life President Trump sign it? Freedom of Choice, so to speak.
When the House voted in favor of H.J. Res. 43, pro-life Iowa Senator Joni Ernst congratulated her House colleagues:
Today marked a major step toward scrapping the Obama administration’s eleventh-hour rule, which secures Title X federal family planning funding for Planned Parenthood – the nation’s largest provider of abortions. I remain committed to restoring our states’ ability to make their own decisions about the best eligible Title X providers for folks, and I look forward to seeing this rule overturned.
Planned Parenthood had their own version. Accompanied by a mocking photo of Mr. Pence and President Trump, Planned Parenthood tweeted
Just wanted you to know what the pro-abortionists are saying about our pro-life friend and champion, Vice President Pence.
Have a great weekend.
