MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker will speak tomorrow and open the second day of the 47th annual National Right to Life convention, which kicks off this morning at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Milwaukee. First held in Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. in 1971, the annual National Right to Life Convention brings together grassroots leaders of the right-to-life movement to exchange ideas, share information, learn from leading experts, and join together in the common goal of restoring legal protection for all innocent human life.
“I am energized by the attendees of our annual National Right to Life convention who are steadfast in their efforts to protect vulnerable members of the human family,” said Carol Tobias, National Right to Life president. “The diverse crowd, representing every segment of the population, demonstrates the pro-life movement is growing stronger every day.”
Gov. Walker will be speaking during a session examining right-to-life political victories from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 30. Also addressing the session will be National Right to Life President Carol Tobias, Executive Director David N. O’Steen, Ph.D., Co-Executive Director Darla St. Martin, and Political Director Karen Cross.
Other major speakers addressing the convention include Ben Shapiro, author, columnist, and political commentator; Ann McElhinney, NYT bestselling author, journalist, film producer & director; David Daleiden, investigative citizen journalist, The Center for Medical Progress; Ryan Bomberger, co-founder and chief creative officer, The Radiance Foundation; Wesley J. Smith, J.D., lawyer, award-winning author, and bioethicist; and Orlando Carter Snead, J.D., William P. and Hazel B. White director of the Center for Ethics and Culture, The University of Notre Dame.
Last held in Wisconsin in 1999, this year’s convention is hosted by Wisconsin Right to Life, the state National Right to Life affiliate. The annual National Right to Life convention features more than 70 workshops and general sessions, a prayer breakfast featuring Mr. Bomberger, and the closing keynote banquet featuring Professor Snead.
A concurrent National Teens for Life (NTL) convention is also being held with sessions geared toward nurturing and educating the next generation of pro-life leaders. The official youth outreach program of National Right to Life, NTL celebrates its 32nd anniversary at this year’s convention.
