We are on site at the 2017 National Right to Life Convention and we’re continuing to post stories about the pro-life educational gathering of the year.
I’ve attended NRLC conventions since 1980 and I would say without a moment’s hesitation Thursday opening day General Sessions were the finest I’ve ever attended. That string of success continued with today’s Prayer Breakfast and PAC General session.
First just a few words about the powerhouse General Session that capped Thursday: “Gosnell!! America’s Greatest Serial Killer.”
Ann McElhinney is the producer of Gosnell the movie and co-author of the New York Times Best Seller Gosnell: The Untold Story of America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer. (There will be a sneak preview screening of the Gosnell movie tonight.)
Ann, as they say, had the audience in the palm of her hand, a major task considering how unbelievably vile abortionist (and convicted murderer) Kermit Gosnell was, and how hideous were the atrocities he and his staff at the Women’s Medical Society abortion clinic in West Philadelphia committed.
As often as the audience may have heard about Gosnell deliberately delivering nearly full-term babies alive and then viciously murdering them by severing their spinal cords, seeing “the pictures” still makes your stomach roil.
A journalist herself, Ann had nothing but scorn for the American media which essentially boycotted the Gosnell trial until one of their own—Kirsten Powers—shamed them into coverage which they quickly abandoned once another tragedy occurred. She had an even lower opinion of Pennsylvania health authorities and two governors who allowed Gosnell to operate his “House of Horrors” unregulated and unchecked.
Ryan Bomberger’s Radiance Foundation is well known to pro-lifers. His Prayer Breakfast speech was an extended love song to his birth mother who relinquished him for adoption rather than abort him, to his parents, and to his wife and four children. When you listen to Ryan, you hear an eloquent defense of the foundational principle that every life matters—that “Every Human Life has purpose.”
Planned Parenthood has no more articulate critic than Mr. Bomberger. He just annihilated their self-serving lies. Like Ms. McElhinney, he is a harsh critic of the “mainstream media” which is essentially an extension of the Abortion Industry. He read from “The Journalist’s Creed” which can be found written on a bronze plaque that hangs at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The distance the behavior of present day reporters is from that 1914 statement of journalistic ethics is stunning.
The first half of the second day was capped with a terrific PAC session—“The Battle Before Us.” The roster of experts on elections, polling, and the advantage pro-life candidates enjoy among voters who vote strictly on abortion included Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, NRLC President Carol Tobias, NRLC Executive Director Dr. David N. O’Steen, NRLC Co-Executive Director Darla St. Martin, and Karen Cross, NRL Political Director.
Both Dr. O’Steen and Karen Cross talked about the incredible success NRL political entities have enjoyed against the likes of EMILY’s List, a pro-abortion political action behemoth that has spent hundreds of millions of dollars since1980 to elect stridently pro-abortion female Democratic candidates.
The panel offered insights from years of experience and solid advice for winning in 2018 and beyond.
