The National Right to Life Academy: Empowering pro-life college students to make a difference

By Raimundo Rojas, Program Director, National Right to Life Academy

The National Right to Life Academy is a five-week academic summer course for pro-life college students eager to put their pro-life passion to work. Students receive a comprehensive pro-life education – we emphasize (but don’t limit courses to) abortion, fetal development, assisted suicide/euthanasia, healthcare reform, debate, lobbying, grassroots organizing, communications, legislation and politics.

After the program, students are empowered with the knowledge and tools to effectively articulate the pro-life message and make a difference for life. Graduates of the program have gone on to run pro-life clubs in their colleges, work at pregnancy resource centers and have played vital roles in our National Right to Life state affiliates and chapters.

More than 70 students have finished the academy and many are currently contributing to the success of the pro-life movement in their states. They are the future of the pro-life movement and the future is happening now.

Academic Director, Dr. Randy O’Bannon, Ph. D. has prepared a brilliant curriculum for the 2017 class – great care has been taken to keep the very best from previous Academy’s but we’ve also updated many sections to reflect the changing political and legislative landscape. The list of speakers, presenters and lecturers is as impressive as ever.

We have worked very hard to maintain the cost for each student down to what it was last year. The $3,600 tuition covers registration and attendance at the National Right to Life Convention in Milwaukee where students will be receiving food vouchers while at the convention. Tuition also includes transportation from Milwaukee to our National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and lodging for the remaining 5 weeks.

Many of you have had students experience the Academy and know what a tremendous opportunity it is not only for the students themselves but for your state organization as well. Please let me strongly urge you to make placing a local student in this year’s class a priority.
