Fifteen days out — “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you”

By Dave Andrusko

There are so many Yogi Berraisms that those of us old enough to remember the Hall of Fame Yankee catcher can always find several to fit any occasion.

For example, the Establishment Media has pronounced the presidential contest over, not just to try to discourage Donald Trump’s followers but to increase the possibility Democrats can win control of the Senate as well as the presidency.

So what came to mind were two of my favorites: “It gets late early out there” and “”Take it with a grin of salt.”

Is pro-life Trump behind pro-abortion Hillary Clinton? Of course, as Trump’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway said on Meet the Press Sunday. That obvious observation was [cherry-]picked up and amplified, while the rest of her observations , there and on Fox News Sunday, were ignored.

“We are behind,” Conway said to NBC’s Chuck Todd, and then went on to explain why that was the case and why that deficit can be made up in the closing two weeks.

On Fox News Sunday, after laying out the case for how Trump can still win and how close he is in the states he would need to carry to prevail, here’s what Conway said to host Chris Wallace:

And so, the fact is that this race is not over. Many in the media want to say it’s over for the 12th time, they’re counting Donald Trump out. And I’m telling you that in some of these polls, if you’re only using listed sample and you’re identifying people who voted Republican in 2012 or voted Democrat in 2012, and you’re not really bringing in people who haven’t voted in a long time, the lapse voters or the first-time voters who are truly enthusiastic about Donald Trump as an outsider trying to really shake up the system. And there are many people like that.

Two other important points, one a reinforcement of something said above.

Republican/pro-life control of the Senate is critical as a bulwark against Clinton, should she win. Please read Joe Landrum’s post today — “An update of key Senate races before the elections” and regularly check nrlpac.org.

As I mentioned to my siblings in an email this morning, in spite of all the nonsense about what a pedantic, managerial-type she would be as president, Mrs. Clinton is driven by and ridden with ideology. And the people who surround her are even more so.

As the leaked documents make abundantly clear, they are classic illiberal liberals whose contempt for all those tens of millions of “irredeemable” “deplorables” exceeds even Clinton’s. As such it would never cross their minds that people can have deeply held moral/religious objections to having their tax dollars conscripted to pay for abortions-or, if it did, that those objections should be honored.

And if you think Nixon had an Enemies List….

Second, the more pro-abortionists win, the more energies the Establishment Media will expend in telling us that there ought to be new leaders for our Movement. That these new leaders they choose will just happen to be the kind of men and women that pro-abortionists and their allies at the Washington Post and the New York Times can “work with” or would split the coalition that has accomplished so much, will, of course, be ignored.
