I hope you have already had time to begin to read the latest digital edition of National Right to Life News. If you have, you know there is a heavy emphasis on the most pivotal presidential election in my adult lifetime.
Let me offer some up-to-the-minute information that helps the casual observer understand why Democrats are in full-blown panic that pro-abortion-to-the-hilt Hillary Clinton will lose to pro-life Donald Trump.
Here’s the headline from a story that appeared on the CBS News webpage today: “On a street in Ohio, defiant Democrats flock to Trump.”
Bear in mind Jacqueline Alemany’s analysis reeks with contempt for Trump (it is really mean-spirited , but the facts are the facts:
“They just don’t get it anymore with us,” Jeff Kulow [a 25-year member of the Teamsters] said of the Democratic Party. “Maybe in an upscale area or downscale, maybe they’ll resonate. But around here — all working class and middle class, everyone has left the Democratic party. I can’t see myself ever going back.”
This helps explain why Trump has led in the three latest Ohio polls–by 3, 4, and 5 points, respectively. Another major explanation is, according to POLITICO, that “85 percent of Republicans in Ohio were backing Trump — up from 77 percent in a Quinnipiac poll in early July.”
Mrs. Clinton is scheduled, we’re told, to give a “sweeping” speech today, reintroducing herself, yet again. This after accounts reveal, although outspending Trump on political ads by a gabillion dollars, she is at best even with Trump.
But will she stay with the high road? The Washington Post’s Philip Rucker has his doubts
Whether the new approach will translate into fewer attacks on Trump remains to be seen. Clinton is drawn to Trump-bashing like a moth to a flame. She talks about Trump and tweets about Trump and runs advertisements about Trump. Defining him as unfit for office is at the core of her strategy to win. Late Tuesday, her campaign blasted this out from her main Twitter account: “Four months from today, our next president will walk into the Oval Office. Help make sure it’s not Donald Trump.”
Two other quick points. First, Clinton’s campaign manager,
Robby Mook, sent an email blast today in which he wrote
In just two months, Trump has broken the GOP record for small donations and raised more from small donors than either Romney or McCain did during their entire campaigns. And he did it without laying the groundwork or building relationships for the year beforehand.
That goes to show you the nature of what we’re up against — if I’m being honest, in some ways they’re outdoing us. I know this team is stronger than Trump’s, but we have to start showing the same level of commitment every single day we have left.
Granted, this is intended to push the donors’ panic button, but it is true, nonetheless.
Second, in the latest “Five Thirty Eight “survey (the work of elections guru Nate Silver), Silver has Trump just six electoral votes short of winning and one point away from equaling Clinton’s popular vote.
To repeat, these are mere projections but about an hour and a half ago, “Five Thirty Eight” gave Trump a 3% chance of winning.
