Bolstered by support of the national Democratic party, Katie McGinty carried the day Tuesday in her party’s senatorial primary in Pennsylvania.

Her victory means that one of the most closely-watched U.S. Senate races this fall will be the match-up between incumbent pro-life U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R) and Ms. McGinty.

The race will be a study in stark contrasts.

Sen. Toomey supports common sense legislation such as a ban on late-term abortions and protections against taxpayer funds being used to fuel the abortion industry. He has a 100% pro-life voting record in the U.S. Senate.

In sharp contrast, McGinty is endorsed by the extreme political action committee known as EMILY’s List. The PAC’s mission is to elect abortion-on-demand Democratic women to office. McGinty’s picture is prominently displayed on the organization’s website under the title, “Featured Candidates.”

The website notes that she supports Roe v. Wade, but does not explain that that tragic U.S. Supreme Court decision legalized abortion for any reason. And there is no mention of the more than 58 million unborn children who have died from legal abortion since 1973, nor of the countless women who have said they have suffered greatly as a result of their abortions.

Her own campaign website touts her support for taxpayer funding of abortion operations, claiming they are the gateway to cancer screenings. Omitted is the inconvenient truth that the nation’s largest abortion operation, Planned Parenthood, which performs nearly 330,000 abortions a year, does not perform mammograms.

The McGinty website states that she is “standing up for women’s rights.” But no mention is made of the fact that research indicates as many as 60 percent of abortions are coerced, meaning that women are being severely pressured into making a choice they personally do not want.

Pennsylvania does need someone who will stand up for women—women in the womb…women terrorized by pro-abortion boyfriends…women suffering from the grief triggered by multiple abortions. Her Emily’s List endorsement and the words from her website show that Katie McGinty is too beholden to Big Abortion special interests to represent the interests of the vast majority of Pennsylvanians, who oppose taxpayer funding of abortion and brutal dismemberment abortions in which babies are torn limb by limb from their mothers’ wombs.

The real fighter for women in this U.S. Senate race is Pat Toomey, who has demonstrated time and time again that he is aligned with the mainstream of Pennsylvanians when it comes to the most critical issue: the issue of life itself.
