Pro-abortion Hillary Clinton
You may remember that Hillary Clinton’s campaign had just put out an ad that in many respects was seemingly very pro-family and very pro-life!
What?
“I believe,” the new video opens with a smiling man addressing his unborn child: “Hi, little one. It’s me. It’s your dad. You are not born yet…I can’t wait to meet you.”
But it’s not just that the ad begins and ends with a proud dad expressing his anticipation about the birth of his unborn child. After the initial comment the ad immediately slides into other voices, all expressions of the truth that this little one also has aunts and grandparents, uncles and siblings.
He or she is enmeshed in a connective web of love and relationship, beginning with his/her parents but extending far and wide. Wow.
THIS from Hillary Clinton’s campaign?!
I couldn’t help but think of a saying attributed to the English poet William Blake:
“A truth that’s told with bad intent
Beats all the lies you can invent.”
Did Hillary Clinton sudden experience a conversion? Of course not. As Luis pointed out in his fine post,
And then, out of the blue, at the 2:19 marker in the video, a woman says: “I believe in an America where you will be able to make decisions about your body because it belongs to you.” This obviously refers to the legality of abortion. However, the video shows two smiling babies while this statement is being made.
Even for Mrs. Clinton, whose byword is cold-blooded calculation dosed in heaps of cynicism, this is amazing.
This is how she will run. She will tell her true believers the truth: she is one of them and has never found–nor ever will find–a “restriction” on abortion that is “reasonable.” To take just one example, she voted against the ban on partial-birth abortions, a “technique” so grotesque it made even hard-core pro-abortionists blanch. (The ban was subsequently upheld by the Supreme Court.)
To the wider public, she will portray herself as a grandmotherly figure who will say (as you hear her saying) that she believes in an America “where we don’t leave anyone out or anyone behind.”
That is, with the tiny exception of 1 million unborn babies each and every year–even more, if she secure an end to the Hyde Amendment.
Let me close with a quote from Oscar Wilde, which perfectly captures Hillary Clinton:
“A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing.”
