Depraved? Barbaric? There is no word for it

protectlifeThis week, a bill was introduced in the U.S. Senate that should get unanimous support.

But the bill, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, won’t. In fact, it won’t get anything like unanimous support. And that is criminal.

The abortion lobby has come out against it, and lawmakers who have pledged allegiance to the abortion lobby are falling into line. President Obama has already threatened to veto it if it reaches his desk.

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would apply explicit protections, backed by federal penalties, to situations where a baby is born alive during an abortion – cases where the baby currently might be left to die or even actively killed by the abortionist.

On Friday, the House passed the same bill by a vote of 248-177. Every Republican voting supported the bill.

But only five Democrats did!

Keep in mind, these are babies who have been born alive. They have survived an attempt on their lives, at least temporarily, and they are now legally persons, breathing the same air you and I do.

In what kind of a barbaric, depraved society do we live where we have to debate whether these babies deserve to be protected by the law . . . or somehow deserve to be left to die or outright killed?

That only five Democrats voted to protect the lives of these little babies, moving and breathing after being born, speaks volumes about how absolutely extreme the pro-abortion side has become. Even their old, arbitrary (and scientifically backwards) line that life begins “at birth” is now being ignored!

In 2002, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, a bill that declared every born-alive infant to be a legal “person” (but without criminal penalty provisions) passed by a vote of 98-0 in the Senate. Not even pro-abortion senators were willing to oppose a law that declared that a live-born human being was a legal “person” no matter how premature – “at any stage of development,” as the law says.

The bill was passed and signed into law by President George W. Bush. But recent disclosures about Planned Parenthood, and the trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell, provided new evidence that strong federal protections are necessary to prevent the horror of babies being left to die or being actively killed after they are born.

After the consensus of 2002, I have to say it’s utterly shocking that today, the vast majority of Congressional Democrats and their abortionist allies apparently don’t want any restrictions, even if the baby is already born!

This law needs to be passed. We also need to pass bans on late abortions (the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act) and dismemberment abortions (the Dismemberment Abortion Ban Act) at both the national and state levels.

We’ve already passed such laws in a number of states, but we have so much more to do! Please help us educate a public that still doesn’t know enough about the prevalence of late abortion. Help us generate hundreds of thousands of calls from Americans to their elected officials demanding they vote for these compassionate laws. Help us stop these abortions!

Please consider a donation of $25, $50, $100, or more so we can educate, activate, and ultimately pass bans on these late abortions, and on the horrific practice of leaving babies already born to suffer a lonely, torturous death!

Your donation can help us stop that. Please help!
