Even in their own words, these are atrocities

Late yesterday, in another major victory for vulnerable unborn babies, Gov. Mary Fallin of Oklahoma became the second governor to sign National Right to Life’s new landmark legislation to ban dismemberment abortions.

The law is brilliant not just because it will save so many lives, but because the debate will educate so many Americans about what really happens in an abortion.

And that is not a debate that is going to be favorable to the pro-abortion side.

Take, for example, the web site RH Reality Check, a pro-abortion web site that tries to debunk pro-life arguments. Here’s what they wrote about the parallel bill in Missouri to ban these abortions:

HB 920 would prohibit a person from performing, or attempting to perform, a “dismemberment abortion” unless it is necessary to prevent serious health risk to the fetus’s mother.

The bill defines “dismemberment abortion” to mean “with the purpose of causing the death of an unborn child, purposely to dismember a living unborn child and extract him or her one piece at a time from the uterus through use of clamps, grasping forceps, tongs, scissors, or similar instruments that, through the convergence of two rigid levers, slice, crush, or grasp a portion of the unborn child’s body to cut or rip it off.”

The bill provides that no woman nor anyone acting under the direction of a physician (nurse, technician, secretary, receptionist or other employee or agent) is liable for performing or attempting to perform a “dismemberment abortion.”

The bill provides for civil and criminal penalties . . .

And these are arguments against the bill?! That gruesome description in the bill’s language – which they faithfully reprinted – makes it clear that what is happening to the human being in the womb is nothing short of an atrocity.

The truth, as always, is our best tool to win the hearts and minds of Americans on this issue!

Recent newspaper articles in the New York Times and elsewhere have also been explicit about what happens to a baby in a dismemberment abortion. That’s a start. But we need to do so much more to make sure every American hears about this tragedy.

When enough Americans learned about the tragedy of partial-birth abortion, it gave us enough support to ban that procedure. Now it’s time to do the same with another horrible procedure – dismemberment abortions.

Please help us legislate and educate an end to this brutality. Help with your generous support for National Right to Life and our efforts to end heinous dismemberment abortions. Scores of thousands of these abortions occur yearly and they don’t have to.

Your gift can help us end them. Thank you for anything you can do!
