Pro-Life Louisiana Gov. Boby Jindal
The 2014 legislative session was a huge success for Louisiana women and unborn babies! To put the finishing touches on this year’s pro-life legislation, Governor Jindal will hold a signing ceremony this Thursday in Monroe, the home of Representatives Katrina Jackson and Frank Hoffman.
At the ceremony, Jindal will sign into law two cutting edge pieces of pro-life legislation: HB 388 and HB 305. These bills were the top priorities for Louisiana Right to Life this session, and were created in collaboration between Louisiana Right to Life and the Bioethics Defense Fund.
HB 388, authored by Rep. Katrina Jackson (D-Monroe) requires abortionists to have admitting privileges within thirty miles of their facility, clarifies that the “Women’s Right to Know” law applies to surgical AND chemical abortions, and requires doctors who perform more than five abortions a year to maintain proper licensing.
HB 305, authored by Rep. Frank Hoffmann (R-West Monroe), provides that no representative of a business or organization that performs abortion may provide instruction in schools that receive state funding. This will ensure that organizations with financial interest in abortion, like Planned Parenthood, cannot teach in our state.
- HB 1262, another important piece of pro-life legislation that was authored by Rep. Barry Ivey (R-Baton Rouge) was signed into law on Monday in Baton Rouge. HB 1262 provides women with life-saving information about the psychological impact of abortion and the dangers of the sex trafficking industry to women prior to an abortion.
