How many is 55 million abortions?

By Dave Andrusko

NRL News Today will, of course, be following up on all the stories we ran last week about the national March for Life held in Washington, DC and  adding to the accounts of state rallies led in most cases by National Right to Life affiliates. But I’d like to begin by directing you  to a “simple” but immensely convicting video produced by Oregon Right to Life, NRLC’s state affiliate.

We’ve reproduced it on our website at www.nrlc.org. The heading reads, “How many is 55 million abortions?”

Its power derives from two clever ways it gives a visual meaning to the death toll. As the numbers whiz by, we are reminded of just how many babies had been killed by a given date. For example, by 1983, the number of abortions had already climbed to 13,626,066.

At the same time, every few years another state is highlighted, illustrating that, for instance, by 1983, the number of dead babies had reached the equivalent of the entire population of New Mexico, Nebraska, Arkansas, and West Virginia. By 1985, Nevada, Montana, and Wyoming, were added.

You are witnessing the accumulation of casualties, as it were, in real time.

This, and several other stories today, are an attempt to help you to illuminate the darkness that is the legacy of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Please read them all.

Take a moment out and go to www.nrlc.org to watch “How many is 55 million abortions?” and share it using your social media outlets.
