Usual Suspects to gather for a pro-abortion rally in Washington, DC

By Dave Andrusko

Call it my penance, but I do skim as many pro-abortion sites as time permits. My rationale is that it’s important to know what they are saying and planning.

I had meant to say a couple of words about the “We Are Woman National Rally for Women’s Rights” that is scheduled for August 18. Some of the usual suspects have signed on—according to Jessica DelBalzo, Media Coordinator—among others, Planned Parenthood, the National Council of Women’s Organizations, NOW, and CODEPINK, and assorted characters.  But it wasn’t until I read a call for greater media coverage from DelBalzo that I remembered to take a few minutes to talk about the gathering in the nation’s capital.

On Monday DelBalzo posted on rhreality.org a piece headlined, “An Open Letter to the Media Outlets that are Ignoring a Scheduled, National Rally for Women’s Rights” in which she coyly threatened a coordinated “publicity stunt to attract media attention.” She observed, “When collectives have mailed knit uteruses to conservative congressmen, when they’ve performed the Vagina Monologues on statehouse steps, the media has paid attention.” Message? Cover us to the extent we want, or else.

You’ll never guess what the main ingredient of this rally is about. Okay, you did: the “War on Women” with support for “equal pay, and the necessity of the Equal Rights Amendment to secure these freedoms for women now and in the future” added in to spice it up.

They are, of course, oblivious to the obvious fact that more than half the l.2 million babies are aborted each year are female. Or that in May enough pro-abortion Democrats in the House of Representatives voted against the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act–a bill to prohibit performing or coercing abortions to eliminate unborn babies of an undesired sex (almost always girls)—to defeat PRENDA. What more proof could you need that there is no length to which pro-abortionists won’t go to protect the “right” to abortion?

The “War on Women” is a rhetorical battering ram intended to crush the truth: the only war on women is the one waged by the very people coming to Washington, DC in ten days.
