Without fail every year one of the best attended workshops at the annual National Right to Life Convention is “When They say… You say.” The workshop, usually presented by Olivia Gans, founder of American Victims of Abortion, and Mary Spaulding Balch, director of State Legislation for NRLC, looks at the five basic arguments pro-abortionists use to justify abortion and what the responses should be from pro-life activists.
All this week, National Right to Life President and Pro-Life Perspective Host Carol Tobias is discussing those five basic arguments and the facts and resources available to pro-lifers. If you miss any episode, or if you want to download them to share with others, you can find the entire week online at www.prolifeperspective.com.
As Mrs. Tobias notes
“This workshop is invaluable if you ever find yourself in a situation where you have to know how to respond to pro-abortion arguments. Today, we’re going to be looking at the argument that without abortion, society would be burdened with unwanted and abused children. This argument is commonly couched in the phrase ‘Every child a wanted child.’”
This noxious idea—that a child has value if, and only if, she is “wanted”—is one side of a deadly coin. On the other side was/is the “promise” that if we abort enough “unwanted” children, all our problems will magically disappear.
“In the 1960s, we were told that there were too many people, not enough resources, unwanted and abused children, abused women, poverty, and a host of other social ills. When taken separately, these issues all appear to be independent problems, but we were told that they all had a common remedy. Abortion.”
The remainder of today’s five-minute broadcast at www.prolifeperspective.com systematically debunks this dangerous—and ugly—illusion. Of all this week’s broadcasts, this is one that you for sure will want to listen to and, if you miss, go back to later in the week.
Tomorrow, “When They Say. . .You Say, ” Part Four.
