Republican Presidential Candidates Are Pro-Life

The pro-life community knows that President Barack Obama has an abysmal record on life. NRLC Federal Legislative Director Douglas Johnson lays out “the damage to date” on this page, and NRLC has compiled an up-to-date “Presidential Record on Life” that you can read at www.nationalrighttolifenews.org/news/2012/01/the-presidential-record-on-life.

We are fortunate that all of the Republican candidates running for president are pro-life: former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Rep. Ron Paul, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum.

These candidates all support the reversal of Roe v. Wade; they all oppose using tax dollars to pay for abortion; they all oppose giving tax dollars to organizations (like Planned Parenthood) that perform abortions; and they all have stated emphatically that they would repeal “ObamaCare,” the so-called Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act that will provide for funding for health plans that pay for abortion on demand and will lead to the rationing of lifesaving medical treatments.

Read these statements from the Republican presidential candidates in regard to Roe v Wade:

Newt Gingrich—”The revolutionary idea contained in the Declaration of Independence is that certain fundamental human rights, including the right to life, are gifts from God and cannot be given nor taken away by the government.”

Ron Paul—”I think the Roe v. Wade situation was a big mistake and the states ought to have the right to decide on the issue, so I would deny jurisdiction to the federal courts on abortion issues.”

Mitt Romney—”I support the reversal of Roe v. Wade, because it is bad law and bad medicine. Roe was a misguided ruling that was a result of a small group of activist federal judges legislating from the bench.”

Rick Santorum—”I believe we need to overturn Roe v. Wade. I think it was a poorly and horribly decided decision.”

Unborn babies will be well-served with any of these men in the White House.
