Pro-Life Perspective: Abortion’s Physical Complications

By Dave Andrusko

NRLC President Carol Tobias

Pro-abortionists like to try to calm the roiled waters around the subject of abortion by telling people how routine, how common abortion is. What they never tell you is how common complications are.

For example, having an abortion hurts, as National Right to Life President and Pro-Life Perspective Host Carol Tobias reminded her audience yesterday at www.prolifeperspective.com. “In one study done in Montreal, ninety-seven percent of the women reported having pain,” she tells us. “Sixty-one percent reported pain that was moderate to severe.” And it’s far worse for adolescents.

But, so what, pro-abortionists might say. We don’t want you to hurt but after all….

But pain is not something that can be ignored. Abortion is such an assembly-line “service” that the hunt for complications is not likely to be intense.

Pain “can often signal an infection, cervical damage, uterine damage, or an ectopic pregnancy that was not diagnosed,” Mrs. Tobias explains. “These issues can all affect a woman=s immediate and future health and her ability to have children later.”

The remainder of this important edition of Pro-Life Perspective is a detailed overview of the complications that are associated with abortion, including a near doubled risk of future sterility. The risk of miscarriage is heightened, similarly with premature birth with future pregnancies. “Premature birth is associated with lower birth weight and higher rates of cerebral palsy,” she tells us.

And that doesn’t even begin to get into such common side effects as infection, sepsis, endometriosis, cervical lacerations, uterine, bladder, or bowel perforations from the instruments that are used during the abortion.

And few people know, as Mrs. Tobias explains, “Chemical abortions such as RU 486 have a whole list of additional side effects.  There can be severe pain and cramping.  Then there is also the possibility of hemorrhaging infection or the later rupture of an undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy.”

And finally, how many people know that there have been over 350 identified deaths from legal abortion in the United States since Roe versus Wade legalized abortion in 1973?

Take five minutes out and go to www.prolifeperspective.com. After listening to Mrs. Tobias you will be able to document that “Abortion is not the quick and easy solution pro-abortion groups like to portray.”
