Under Human Service Charities of America (HSCA) #10542
By Marie G. Rivers
If you are a federal employee, you probably attended a Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) “kick-off” event around the first of September at your workplace (military base or post office, for example). There you received a brochure listing hundreds of organizations to select from for easy pay-roll deduction giving.
For the past 28 years, the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund has been a proud participant in the CFC, which is the largest payroll contribution campaign in the United States. The CFC was created by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in the early 1980s for government employee philanthropy.
If you have not already located the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund in your CFC brochure, it is listed alphabetically under the workplace employee federation called Human Service Charities of America (HSCA) along with NRLETF’s agency #10542 and 25-word description.
The NRL Educational Trust Fund is extremely grateful for the contributions it has received through the CFC. One of the blessings is that the Trust Fund is able to share CFC proceeds with its affiliate groups throughout the country.
Last year Mike Gonidakis, Executive Director of Ohio Right to Life, wrote that “the funds are being put to good use,” and describes how CFC funds have enabled his group to expand their online resource site knowledgeisempowering.com for women facing an unplanned pregnancy.
Teresa McCann-Tumidajski, Executive Director of Maine Right to Life Committee, expressed thanks for the “generous donation from the NRTL Education Trust Fund. We use these proceeds for continuing pro-life education, to produce and distribute our Pro-Life Resource Directory.”
Connie Pratt, President of Colorado Citizens for Life, also submitted that her group is “especially grateful for this contribution; please be assured that we will put this money to good use, defending the most helpless members of the human family.” These are just a few of many comments we receive from our 50 state affiliates on the pro life work CFC dollars allow.
The 2011 CFC began in most CFC areas early September and will run about two months, some starting and ending a bit later into the fall/winter. So if you are a federal employee, please know that your generous contributions are being put to good use throughout your communities and changing hearts and minds into compassion for the unborn, elderly and disabled.
In other workplace giving opportunities, state employees may contribute to the National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund in the states listed below:
Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin (other states do not yet have state campaigns).
Private sector employees may simply “write-in” the NRL ETF if your workplace runs an in-house workplace campaign. State employees will find the Trust Fund listed under HSCA’s sister federation called Neighbor to Nation (NTN).
