Representative Dan Boren (D-Okla.) has announced that he will not run for re-election in 2012. Mr. Boren, considered a conservative Democrat, has a 100% pro-life voting record for the current 112th Congress, according to National Right to Life’s scorecard. Boren won re-election in 2010 with 57% of the vote in a district that went 66% for Republican John McCain.
Former Representative Brad Carson (D) has announced his intent to run for the seat in his former district. Mr. Carson cast a long series of votes hostile to the unborn child during his four years in the House of Representatives. He had a 48% voting record in his two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, according to National Right to Life’s scorecard.
Several pro-life Republicans are looking at the race and are expected to announce soon.
Of the twelve U.S. House members to announce their retirements for 2012, Mr. Boren is the first who is not retiring to run for higher office.
