Who was Responsible for “Preventing all this death and damage” at Kermit Gosnell’s Abortion Clinic?

By Dave Andrusko

Abortionist Kermit Gosnell

For weeks we’ve run excepts from the Grand Jury report investigating abortionist Kermit Gosnell, accused of eight counts of murder. And we have plenty more to come to help you see the magnitude of the indifference to human life and suffering laid out in the 261-page report.

But today’s excerpt merits a brief separate commentary. After all, there are few more pressing questions than (as the headline asks) “Who could have prevented all this death and damage?” Just look at the guilty parties the Grand Jury lists by name:

State and local officials

The Department of Health and specifically DOH inspectors who seemed to have missed everything. There are many explanations but it begins with the fact that DOH had not “treated the clinic as the ambulatory surgical facility it was.”

The Department of State prosecutors

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health

And “fellow doctors, the ones who treated the women after Gosnell butchered them….”

Would this have prevented the death and mayhem? “We don’t know,” the report concludes. “We only know what happened when none of these people did what they should have.”
