Pro-ObamaCare Democrats: On the Wrong Side of History

By Dave Andrusko

“Although Democrats insisted that the ACA [ObamaCare] would become more popular once the congressional debate ended and the benefits started to kick in, the reverse has actually happened. According to a Kaiser Health Tracking poll released Friday, 46 percent of the public opposes the law, up from 40 percent a year ago. Only 42 percent support the law, down from 46 percent a year ago.”

From “Where are the health care all-stars?” a story in today’s POLITICO written by Jennifer Haberkorn

It’s now been a year since pro-abortion President Barack Obama signed the grotesquely misnamed Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law.  To commemorate, so to speak, the arrival of ObamaCare, we have several items in today’s information queue. All will be brief.

Haberkorn’s story makes for absolutely fascinating reading. Last June various big-wig Democrats announced the formation of a high-powered campaign to sell ObamaCare. But what was billed as a five-year, $125-million “Health Information Campaign”– launched “with great fanfare”–has sunk without a bubble. POLITICO tried to get the big [and lesser] names to comment, but no dice.

Its apparent successor surfaced last month when POLITICO “reported that a trio of high-powered Democratic operatives was in the early stages of a new initiative to coordinate messaging on health care reform”—aka “recharge” the pro-ObamaCare groups.  In an interview one of the three “operatives”–former Sen. Ben Nelson staffer David Di Martino—defended the Health Information Campaign, but “declined to discuss the budget or the source of funds for the new pro-reform effort.”

Just one other quick note. The quote that began this blog entry quotes numbers from Kaiser Health, which is typically described as having no position on ObamaCare. Ooook.

But the fact is its numbers are consistently far more favorable to ObamaCare than the results compiled by Rasmussen which does daily tracking. Less than a week ago, we wrote, “The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows that 62% favor repeal of the health care law, including 51% who Strongly Favor it. Only 33% of voters oppose repeal, with 24% who are Strongly Opposed” (

So if even Kaiser Health admits that 46% oppose ObamaCare to only 42% who support it, you see why Democrats who continue to defend the law are on the wrong side of history.
