Pro-life President-elect Donald Trump continues to add staunch pro-lifers to his incoming administration. The latest is Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt who will be the director of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Pruitt “was an outstandingly courageous pro-life leader in the Oklahoma state Senate during a period when pro-abortion Democrats were in charge,” said Tony Lauinger, Oklahomans For Life State Chairman and National Right to Life Vice President. Pruitt joins a stellar list that includes, among others, Rep. Tom Price, Sen. Jeff Sessions, Rep. Mike Pompeo, Betsy DeVos, Republican National Chairman Reince Priebus, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and Dr. Ben Carson.

Obamacare was, of course, a flashpoint in the election. Trump vowed to “repeal and replace” what had come to be dubbed Barack Obama’s “signature domestic accomplishment.” At a Tuesday press conference, pro-life Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said it would be “the first item up in the new year.”

Appearing on CNN’s “The Lead,” pro-life Vice President-elect Mike Pence told Jake Tapper

“Let me say the first thing we’re going to do … is we’re going to keep our promise to the American people,” Pence said. “We’re going to repeal Obamacare. Lock, stock and barrel. What we’re also going to do is work with members of the House and Senate to ensure an orderly transition and the length of time that that will take will be a subject of legislative debate and we’ll fill in the substance of that.”

A headline for a story that appeared in BusinessInsider –“Donald Trump could erase Obama’s legacy almost as soon as he takes office”–is, of course, preposterously overstated. But for single-issue pro-lifers it is a great source of encouragement that the incoming Trump/Pence administration has planted its flag firmly in the pro-life camp. We can hope the pro-abortion portion of Obama’s legacy is thoroughly erased.

To that end Mr. Trump has vowed to: nominate only pro-lifers to the Supreme Court; retain the life-saving Hyde Amendment; sign into law the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would end painful late-term abortions nationwide; and defund Planned Parenthood as long as they continue to perform abortions, reallocating their funding to community health centers that provide comprehensive health care for women.
