NRLC: Strength in Numbers
By Jacki Ragan, Director, NRLC State Organizational Development Department
Back in 1968 when the right to life movement was a tiny, tiny infant, some very strong and very amazing people came together and created the National Right to Life Committee, built on a vision that has stood the test of time. Those women and men recognized that in order to succeed, NRLC would need to be strong, non-sectarian, and not be affiliated with any one religious denomination. They understood that it would need to be single issue, based in the nation’s capital, and most important of all, the fledgling NRLC would best serve the cause of unborn babies by being a “bottom-up” organization, building on and drawing its strength from the grassroots.
And thus was born the National Right to Life Committee.
Today, we are the oldest and the largest national pro-life organization in the nation. National Right to Life, our 50 state affiliates and more than 3,000 chapters stay active, busy, and energized to further the cause of the unborn and the medically dependent elderly.
What makes NRLC so effective? Our grassroots networks and leaders see the “big picture.” They understand the importance of extending the role and message of National Right to Life to every state, every city, and every local community.
Thus, strength in numbers. Will you join our numbers today? We need your help. What ideas do you have that can help us grow our grassroots into a massive front that is ready for any task?
