Local Health Providers, But Not Abortion Providers, Will Receive $130,000 to Provide Women’s Health Care

Pro-Life Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker

Wisconsin Right to Life today is commending Governor Scott Walker and DHS Secretary Dennis Smith for providing $130,000 in state funds to local health centers that don’t perform abortions for free breast and cervical cancer screenings.  Previously, the state’s largest abortion provider–Planned Parenthood–had been a recipient of these funds under the Well Woman program.

“There are many clinics that are not as controversial as Planned Parenthood, and our goal was to make sure low-income women had access to those sorts of screenings from other providers around the state,” Gov. Walker said.

“On behalf of the members and supporters of Wisconsin Right to Life, I want to extend our thanks to Governor Walker and Secretary Smith for making sure that this vital health care will be provided by local entities that are not engaged in the destruction of unborn human life and the endangerment of women,” said Susan Armacost, Wisconsin Right to Life Legislative Director.  “These important services will continue to be provided to low income women by other providers throughout Wisconsin.”
